I developped a series of sculptures concerning the architectural diversity of Swiss cities, in particular about the eclectic shapes of the roofs.

A roof, is an element which completes a construction ; it expresses a stylistic period, and brings a cultural identity, and a character. Moreover, a roof is thought to be protective and resistant to climatic elements.

The starting point comes from a study of roofs, their symbolic, properties, and formal qualities.
My purpose is to create a parallel between architecture and anatomy, in order to express different levels of meaning, and to go over to abstraction, ambiguity, metaphor and poetry. Concerning the sculptures : roofs initially strong and protective, henceforth become fragile membranes, which have lost their functionality, as an assailled city.
Emptied, as an abandoned fortress, a shell, or an animal carcass.
I want to underline the fact that a fortress is not impregnable, and mark a contrast between robustness, protection / rampart and weakness, as a skin or carapace suddenly exposed.
It reminds us as well of abandoned sloughs which permits a metamorphosis.

These sculptures bend on their own weight, are cut, curled on themselves, as dead leaves resistant from the ground, sloughs, or dissected bodies.
