TWO FILMS BY GUILLERMO G. PEYDRÓ

1.

EN CONTRE-PLONGÉE, LA MER (Guillermo G. Peydró, 2013)

A processual short movie, dedicated to my work.

The film, made from my last sculpture project, is inspired by the architectures of the center of Madrid. It traces the private stages of the creation of an artwork: from the intellectual and poetic backgrounds, to the personal answers given to the challenges raised by contemporary art.

Filmed in Madrid, during my artistic residence in the Casa de Velázquez

Music: Samuel Andreyev

Duration : 25 min.

French language with optional subtitles in English and Spanish

SYNOPSIS:

Following Eric Rohmer's statement "It is impossible to film the creative process", the filmmaker asks himself how to enter and film this space of doubt and discovery, and the result is a new filmic creation that shares the creative methods of the original piece. Low angle, the sea (En contre-plongée, la mer) is a "processual film", after the sculpture project of the same name by French artist Jeanne de Petriconi, inspired herself by the architectures of Madrid’s city center. The film traces the usually inaccesible creative process that leads to the creation of an artwork: from the intellectual and poetic substrate, to the challenges set out by contemporary art. The camera shares, rebuilds or completes the creative process phases, divided in five and themselves alternated with the "Five pieces for flute and percussion" by Canadian composer Samuel Andreyev.

2.

ARCHITECTOMIE #1 (Guillermo G. Peydró, 2015)

"Architecture as a shell for sculpture / Sculpture as an interrogation for the architecture." The latest film that the director Guillermo G. Peydró has done in 2014 is devoted to the installation of Architectomie #1, an aluminum sculpture made by myself and exhibited at the Cybele Palace (Madrid) this year.

Filmed in the temporary exhibition "Architectomie # 1" in Cybele Palace, CentroCentro both Art Center and Madrid City Hall.

- October 3 - December 9, 2014 -

Duration: 10 minutes.

SYNOPSIS:

How to film a sculpture, its relation to an architecture and to the spectators? The dynamic movement of the camera and the eye contrasts the mineral statism of the sculpture, while the sculpture keeps its tri-dimensionality against the two dimensions of cinema. How to capture the decisive instant in which it simultaneously causes and reflects, mirror-like? How to show the sculpture, linked to the architecture, yet different from it: distanced, in counterpoint, allowing cinema spectators to travel to the past of this form, before it even existed?
